Hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Weekend Wrap-Up and it’s about time because there is lots to catch you up on!
Firstly, my blogging absence. It’s a long and complicated story, but basically my doctor misdiagnosed me with pre-diabetes two years ago and immediately put me on a bunch of meds that slowly took my life from me. Finally in December, I decided I’d had enough and went to see her regarding my meds where she then denied having ever diagnosed me. The side effects of the meds had culminated in borderline eating disorders as well as mental health issues that just about overwhelmed me. I took a break from literally everything in my life save for homeschooling and the occasional outfit on Instagram. But focusing on my health these past months has made all the difference and I am feeling better each day! Turns out, taking time to care for yourself is extremely important!
In the course of taking better care of myself I literally ran my treadmill engine into the ground. As in, metal flakes went flying everywhere! This is the one I had: I maintain that it was an excellent and cute starter treadmill since I had no idea if I’d ultimately stick with running. My husband has since bought me THIS treadmill as a replacement and I love it. It’s kind of one step up in terms of quality and durability which is perfect for my noncommittal attitude about running! I currently run 2-ish times a week!
I recently wrote a post about My Workout Clothes Obsession where I linked all my favorite workout clothes I’ve been wearing lately!
I’ve also been taking classes at the Neighborhood Barre. Let me first tell you that I have NEVER been an ‘exercise is fun’ type of person. But these really are fun! They play music, the girls are supportive and friendly, there are no judgements happening at all, and we’re often cutting up during the workout which helps me get through. If you live in an area where these classes are held, I highly recommend you try one!
I haven’t been posting outfits on the blog recently, so I wanted to show you a couple of my favorites from this week!
Floral Bomber Outfit
I love this one simply because I finally figured out how to style this bomber! I’ve had it for years and always struggled with the look. I found some inspiration on PINTEREST and tried it out! How do you like it?
Bomber is sold out, but maybe you can find it thrifted somewhere! The Brand is Merona! Here are two (Similar)(Similar) options, so you can check out my LiketoKnow.it HERE and HERE to see more.
Shorts(Plus) // Jeans (Similar)// Purse (Similar)(Similar)// Sneakers
Leopard Midi Skirt Outfit
I bought this last fall and had yet to style it until now! I’m so glad I did, because I absolutely love this skirt. Since I’m short, it falls a little longer than a midi, but I think it still works. Do you have a leopard midi skirt in your closet?
Jean Jacket: Levi’s (Similar)(Plus)// Tee: Target (Similar)// Skirt: Target (Similar)(Plus)// Booties: Target (Trendy Option)

And in some AMAZING NEWS, I am now on LiketoKNow.it! I was so excited and I’m definitely still figuring it all out. But I’d love for you to follow me there! Simply download the app from your app store and search for my name [retrocutie] or you can screenshot one of my outfit pics on INSTAGRAM and it should take you there in the app.
If you’ve been following me long, you know that I’m a bit of a book hoarder. My friends and family reading this just chuckled because that’s a HUGE understatement! I think I’ll save pictures of my collection for another post, though. But here are the books I’ve been obsessing over lately!
This book I bought to do some fun school activities with my youngest. It looks so refreshingly simple and easy to do!
I’ve been absorbed in reading about the Beatles, lately. I’m a life-long fan, and I really can’t get enough! I started out by reading this 800+ page biography of Paul McCartney by Philip Norman:
Now I’m currently reading the biography of John Lennon by the same author:
Here are the other ones I’ve recently found and I can’t wait to read! (Like I said, I’m a book hoarder!)
Well, I know this has been a short Weekend Wrap-Up in relation to the length of my absence, but I am slowly getting back to myself and back into the world of blogging again. Thank you for your readership and thank you for having stuck it out with me! If there is anything you’d like to know more about or if you have any questions! Hit me up in the comments!
Until next time,
Glad to hear you are getting healthy. I know doctors ate human, but maybe time to change. I homeschooled for 26 years ( 6 grown kiddos) now helping my daughter and a daughter-in-law get going with my grands, 😊. Enjoy your blog post.

Posts like this have me holding my breath until I get to the very end. I am so thankful that you are ok, and that you are getting your health straightened out. If that silly doctor says she didn’t diagnosis you as pre-diabetic then how in the world did you get prescriptions for the meds that were causing you such issue!! Of course, she did. Unbelievable. My faith in the medical work has been greatly diminished in the last year or so. So thankful you took charge! We have to be our own advocates because no one cares like we do.
So glad to see you back. You look fabulous and are doing such good things to restore your health. Love your clothes…that floral jacket…yes, please!! The skirt. Your shorts. A+, baby girl. Welcome back!!!

Thank you SO MUCH! Yes, it was unbelievable. She made it out that I was OCD and had invented the idea on my own. Last time I saw her.
