Being a bigger girl, I’ve been told that I shouldn’t ever wear stripes and I used to buy into that even though I would see a bunch of cute outfits I wanted to try. But a couple of years ago I decided to wear what I liked and began searching and searching for the right cuts and brands that fit my body type. I’ve decided that it’s not really the stripes that make them unflattering so much as the cut and size of the stripes in relation to the person wearing them.
Here are some outfits that I loved featuring stripes!
With a pop of color:
With a kimono:
Monochrome:
With structure:
Mixed prints:
Striped skirts:
Subtle stripes:
Not-so-subtle stripes:
Beachy stripes:
Mom Uniform:
Laced-up:
And Date Night:
As you can see, stripes can be extremely versatile to wear! I’m so glad I decided to wear what I liked instead of listening to what people told me I couldn’t.
How do you rock your striped pieces? Or is there another pattern you love to wear? Have you ever considered trying new things or things people told you not to wear? I know that clothes are just clothes and in the scheme of things there are things that are WAY more important to worry about. But that’s why I think women should wear what they like and what makes them feel good! If you’ve not given stripes a try, please do! And I’d love to feature your outfit here on the blog if you do!

Ugh, I am WAAAAAY older than you but we were taught to never wear horizontal stripes because they made us look wider. What a crock of crappola! You look adorable in every single striped outfit. So glad in my advanced age, I have kicked that rule to the curb. Along with the rule to never mix patterns. Love pattern mixing. So which of these outfits (aside from the mom uniform, which is probably a pretty typical outfit for you since you identified it that way) is your fav. I know which one is mine…well, I have a couple. Date night, the vest and scarf outfit, and the graphic tee and blazer. So cute!!! Yay you!
